I’ve taken part in the sponsored horse ride called Canter for a Cure three or four times now and it just gets better and better each year! The ride itself is a 12 mile route through the countryside and ends with an (optional) cross country course. But that isn’t it, as it is a sponsored ride, all of the collected funds go towards helping the Medical Detection Dogs charity continue the incredible work that they do in training dogs to help their owners manage an array of complex medical conditions. AND as if that wasn’t already good enough, each year there is a pink colour theme with prizes going to the best dressed and most pink horse and rider combinations.

I completed the ride years ago on my first pony Willow and I’ve since taken my old loan pony Rocky, but this year my new pony Beano will be making his Canter for a Cure début which is incredibly exciting as I think he is going to love it!! This week my friends and I have been out trawling the shops in order to collect as many pink items as we possibly can and as the ride itself is on the 28th June 2015, the preparation is well under-way as we are aiming to cover ourselves (and the ponies) in as much pink as is physically possible!

If you would like to find out more about the amazing work that the Medical Detection Dogs, take a look at my write-up on them here or check out their website! In addition to that, if you are feeling generous and would like to help Beano and I in our fundraising efforts (as it isn’t going very well so far!) then please take a look at our Just Giving page here – remember no donation is too small an amount, every little really does help! And finally, make sure that you keep checking back as I will be posting plenty of updates as we get closer to the date and a summary of how the ride went once we have completed it on the 28th!
